When the Get-Go product is used “Right from the Get-Go” in colostrum and every subsequent milk feed, that infant gets the start that Nature intended.
From launch pad to orbit Get-Go provides your calf the support it needs to start life, grow well and become a great functioning adult. Get-Go addresses three critical stages of development, (1) birth through 48 hours, so very critical for imprinting this new born. (2) For calves on milk until weaning optimized digestion reduces gut pathogens and liberates the full potential of whatever type of milk or milk replacer is fed. And (3) when systems or health get out of kilter, Get-Go Calf "Revive" gets the calf back on track.
Get-Go is a program aimed at producing the best calves possible on every farm.
Get-Go products provide the calf with the correct digestive support it requires for complete digestion. Most scours (diarrhea) are nutritional scours, meaning the calf has not properly digested (and absorbed) its feed. This is so important, especially when many milk and colostrum products are compromised and don’t always represent what nature intended. ATR Thrive’s approach is to enhance the digestion of the various feed options for infant animals. Get-Go products support and enhance the existing digestive systems in the gut that are challenged when we feed formulated feeds and milks that are compromised by antibiotics, age or heat treatment.
Get-Go serves both the farmer and the calf, by successfully addressing the disconnects that have developed in our modern approach to calf raising, by simply ensuring that the growing calf receives the full benefits of every feed during the early weeks of its life.
In return, the farmer receives the full benefits of a healthy, well grown calf at an appropriate weaning age, characterized for high immunity, better growth prospects, fertility and production.
Including Get-Go in any commercial young stock raising operation has an immediate impact on the newborns, the farmer and the ongoing potential it creates in the business.
Animals are fed different types of milk from farm to farm. These five milks are quite different from one another, and present different challenges for effective digestion by each animal. ATR Thrive has formulated unique, patent pending Get-Go® products to address appropriate digestion for each of these different milks.
No other products on the market address digestion this way.
Each of our formulas are specifically designed for different species of animals, and the different milks that they drink. While many of the elements are the same species to species, there are very specific nutritional needs that must be addressed. ATR Thrive has the capability to custom blend formulas for the very specific nutritional requirements of a range of animals. Talk to us about your specific needs.
Get-Go supports and enhances the existing digestive systems in the gut that are challenged when we feed formulated feeds and milks that are compromised by antibiotics, age or heat treatment. Get-Go is a formulated adjunct added to infant calf, kid and lamb milk and or formula.
The principle: Good nutrition relies on the complete digestion of fat and protein and lactose. The Get-Go formula further supports the development of the correct micro-biome in the gut, the platform for robust intestinal fortitude in both growing and adult animals. The formula contains Pre-biotics: necessary for micro-biome support, Enzymes: for the hydrolysis of fat, protein and lactose, and Probiotic bacteria: for sustained gut health.
...The Colostrum story is well known and great effort is made to ensure that infants receive the best possible start in life, However, most colostrum is compromised by poor collection, or handling and storage, and heat treatment and freezing. This compromises one of nature’s most amazing foods. Compromised colostrum makes the infant ill, resulting in diarrhea. Get-Go FM mitigates almost all of the negative consequences of feeding compromised colostrum.
However, even when quality colostrum is administered ideally and verified by bloods and high IG transfer, calves frequently fail to thrive. This point is recognized strongly by Dr Jim Quigley in his “Calf Notes” publication series. High IG transfer has failed to reduce the significant morbidity of calves. It was hoped that morbidity and nutritional scours would be reduced with better colostrum practices. The failure to properly digest colostrum and milk is a significant factor contributing to this morbidity. This is where Get-Go steps up and addresses this missing factor.
Get-Go FM formulated product is like Rocket Fuel. Colostrum is high in fat, protein and antibodies and is nature's perfect food for the newborn. However, the practice of removing calves from their mothers immediately after weaning is the first misstep in a cascade of events that leaves the newborn calf struggling. Get-Go FM sets up the microbiome, immediately setting the stage for outstanding calves.
"First Milk” (Get-Go FM) is specifically designed to enhance the digestion of colostrum, first milk and transition milk. Within 6 hours of birth, the calf’s gut loses its ability to absorb good antibodies by over 30%, and up to 90% cannot be absorbed after 24 hours. Colostrum provides nutrients, hormones, growth factors, and essential immunity agents for the newborn calf. Early feeding of quality colostrum is essential for the calf’s health and its productive future.
The easy to mix, easy to feed formula (Get-Go FM) should be included in the first and second colostrum feeds for each calf.
The current Get-Go range of products for First Milk includes Cow, Goat, and Sheep. ATR Thrive can formulate Get-Go FM products for a wide range of other species including exotic animals.
“Natural Milk” (NM) is normal milk from the same species as the animal being fed that milk; ie the baby animal is fed raw milk from the mother’s species. A calf is fed cow’s milk, a kid receives goat’s milk, and a lamb receives ewe’s milk etc.
Natural Milk is relatively unique to each species. When harvested and fed to calves (for example), that calf should naturally be able to digest this milk. However, effective digestion could still be a challenge, depending on the vigor and health of the calf, and also dependent on the quality and characteristics of that milk. There can be a lot of variation, depending, for example, on the health of the lactating animal, and methods of harvesting and storage.
The current Get-Go range of products for Natural Milk includes Cow, Goat, and Sheep. ATRThrive can formulate Get-Go NM products for a wide range of other species. The ATR Get-Go NM product is formulated to address the specific challenges and characteristics to enable effective digestion of Natural Milk.
“Pasteurized Milk” (Get-Go PM) is raw milk that has been heat treated to a high enough temperature to kill all bacteria or injurious pathogenic micro-organisms that may be present in the milk. This process also destroys any beneficial nutrients such as antibodies, the amino acids and natural proteins present, along with all the natural vitamins and minerals.
The current Get-Go range of products for Pasteurized Milk includes Cow, Goat, and Sheep. ATRThrive can formulate Get-Go PM products for a wide range of other species. The ATR Get-Go PM product is formulated to address the specific challenges and characteristics to enable effective more effective digestion of Pasteurized Milk.
“Distressed Treated Milk” (Get-Go DM) is milk from lactating animals (most commonly dairy cows) that are being treated with various medications or treatments that recommend or prohibit sale of that milk. It may also be milk from sick or morbid cows that the farmer for various reasons considers their milk unsuitable for sale or normal consumption. This milk is usually heated to a high enough temperature to kill most bacteria or injurious pathogenic micro-organisms that may be present in the milk. This process also destroys any beneficial nutrients such as antibodies, the amino acids and natural proteins present, along with all the natural vitamins and minerals.
The current Get-Go range of products for Distressed Milk includes Cow, Goat, and Sheep. ATR Thrive can formulate Get-Go DM products for a wide range of other species. The ATR Get-Go DM product is formulated to address the specific challenges and characteristics to enable more effective digestion of Pasteurized Treatment Milk.
“Milk Replacer” (Get-Go MR) is a wide range of formulated feeds made from a variety of ingredients designed to provide the nutrient requirements for young calves and other farm and domestic animals. Most milk replacers are dry powders that have to be reconstituted to a liquid by mixing with water.
Non-milk protein ingredients include soy protein concentrate, soy isolate, blood plasma, pea protein and hydrolyzed wheat protein, corn and animal byproducts. While none of these ingredients are perfect replacements for milk ingredients, both research and experience have shown that replacing a portion of milk ingredients with non-milk ingredients can substantially lower the cost of milk replacer.
Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in milk and is also called “milk sugar.” Many modern milk replacers replace some lactose with dextrose, pre-gelatinized starch, and/or extruded wheat flour.
The current Get-Go range of products for Milk Replacer includes Cow, Goat, and Sheep. ATR Thrive can formulate Get-Go MR products for a wide range of other species. The ATR Get-Go MR product is formulated to address the specific challenges and characteristics to enable more effective digestion of Milk Replacer.
Livestock farming poses challenges and situations that we can’t always predict. In other words, when something goes wrong. There are times when stress is overwhelming, a bacteria or a virus sometimes aided by inclement weather, lack of sanitation in the raising environment, or a breakdown in the system. If signs of
maldigestion become apparent Get-Go Revive offers a first line of defense.
Get-Go Revive provides an immediate boost to the animal by aiding digestion which releases energy and nutrients, and provides a re-balancing of the animal’s system. Revive is not a medicine, it is a functional element that aids digestion and the microbiome.
A common practice of making grain available to very young calves often causes digestive stress. It is a practice that we strongly discourage, suggesting instead to integrate grain slowly into the diet when closer to weaning. Your calf becomes prepared for grain from 6 weeks of age and will do better on hay than grain in those early weeks. Calves receiving Get-Go have strong appetites, if they are not fed enough milk they may gorge on the grain, this can cause acidosis, it will not be digested in the abomasum. Our recommendation is to satiate the calf with liquid feed up until 6 weeks of age, then transition slowly to other feed options.
Important Note: With calves receiving Get-Go it is not necessary to vaccinate against scours. It may also not be necessary to use antibiotics prophylactically.
If there are issues that are not within the scope of Revive, get an accurate diagnosis and treat accordingly. If the calf is not making positive progress within in 12 –24 hours then it requires a diagnosis.
